Course Description

This hands-on qualification provides students with the skills and knowledge to work as a professional carpenter in the construction industry. The program offers a balance of practical training and theoretical knowledge, equipping students to perform a wide range of carpentry tasks in residential, commercial, and industrial construction settings. Students will develop proficiency in:

  • Constructing and maintaining structures, frameworks, and fittings.
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Measuring, cutting, and assembling various building materials.
  • Safely using hand and power tools. Adhering to workplace health and safety (WHS) regulations.

Entry Requirements

International students must:

  • Be 18 years or older and have successfully completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Have an IELTS academic score of 6.0 (with no band less than 5.5) or
  • PTE Academic minimum 46 overall score.
  • Provide proof of proficiency through:
    • Successful completion of at least six months of a Certificate IV or higher in an Australian education institution.
    • Completing a Language, Literacy, and Numeracy (LLN) assessment.

This course follows a blended learning model, which includes:

  • 15 hours of face-to-face training per week.
  • 5 hours of structured online learning per week.
  • Additional self-study of approximately 5 hours per week.

  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and credit transfers are available and must be applied for at the letter of offer stage or during enrolment.
  • Students with relevant work experience may qualify for exemptions in specific units.
  • A fee is applicable for RPL assessment.
